Instructions on how to configure your new lighting controller
WLED is an open source popular firmware used for controlling LED strips via Wi-Fi. These instructions will guide you through the process of connecting your WLED device to Wi-Fi and controlling your LED lights.
1. Power On Your WLED Device
Plug your WLED controller into a power source.
Ensure your LED strip is properly connected to the controller.
2. Connect to the WLED Wi-Fi Network
Your WLED controller broadcasts it's own Wi-Fi network that you must connect to in order to set it up to your network. You will only need to configure this once.
On your smartphone, tablet, or computer, go to the Wi-Fi settings.
Look for a network named something like WLED-AP or WLED-XXXXXX (where XXXXXX is a unique identifier for your device).
Connect to this network. There may be no password required or the password might be wled1234.
3. Access the WLED Web Interface
Once connected to the WLED network you may be immediatly directed to a setup page. If not, open a web browser.
Type in the IP address 4.3.2.1 or http://wled.local in the address bar and press Enter.
This will bring you to the WLED setup page.
4. Connect WLED to Your Home Wi-Fi
In the WLED interface, navigate to Config > Wi-Fi Setup.
Enter your home Wi-Fi network's SSID (network name) and password.
Make sure to double-check that you’ve entered the correct information.
Save the settings. Your WLED device will now attempt to connect to your home Wi-Fi network.
5. Reconnect Your Device to Your Home Wi-Fi
After saving the Wi-Fi settings, your WLED device will disconnect from the WLED-AP network.
Reconnect your smartphone, tablet, or computer to your home Wi-Fi network.
6. Download the WLED mobile app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store
Open the app, select the Plus in the upper right, select discover devices. If you successfully connected the WLED controller to your home Wi-FI AND your device is back on that same Wi-Fi network it should discover your device
Select the check mark which will take you back to the main device list screen. and tap your device to go into it
7. Explore the WLED Interface
Main Menu: Here, you can turn your LEDs on or off, adjust brightness, and select colors.
Effects: WLED offers a wide range of lighting effects. You can choose and customize these effects from the effects list.
Segments: You can create segments to achieve different lighting effects. There may be some created for you already
Presets: You can save favorite settings to go back to them easily at a later time
8. Save and Schedule Your Settings
You can save your favorite lighting configurations and schedule them to activate at specific times using the Timers section in the Config menu.
